 The Crash Cabin

by Stephen Weymouth

This is an observation by one of the students of our Power Evangelism School:

Sausage, beans and rice and Jesus Christ. The vans and the trucks pull up to the Crash Cabin, a place for the homeless, for the people who aren’t doing well in life but have a little work here and there. For a little money they get a bench, for a little more a bunk. We get to bring them a beam of light and a lot of love. It’s a very Godly time. I can feel the protection of God all around. Everyone is drawn to us. They seem to look forward to our presence.

One evening I was walking across the street with Pastor Richard and Stephan. I had an overwhelming feeling of joy and peace. As we got to the shelter a man asked me to pray with him. It wasn’t long before other homeless men joined me and the man I was praying with. Four of us were in a circle. It was a prayer of hope, encouragement, love, and salvation. That night they dedicated their lives to the Lord.

Another time as the men stood in the food line I was there offering prayer. A man told me that he wanted to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I went and got Pastor Richard and we laid hands on the man and prayed in the Spirit. Soon he joined us and started praying in the Spirit as well. I believe that he rededicated his life to the Lord that night. The next week the man came up to me and said that every yoke of bondage had been broken off of him. He had new job opportunities and he was prospering in life.

When I am out there it is not me praying, it is the Holy Spirit praying through me. One time I was praying with a man. I told him that he would go back into ministry and save many souls. Later he came back up to me and asked me how I knew how to pray the perfect prayer. He told me that he used to be a minister. I knew it was the Holy Spirit. He rededicated his life to the Lord.

During our window of time the presence of God is very strong on the streets. People are being impacted in a positive way.  Many are coming to the Lord and being delivered from evil. One of the most beautiful things to watch is someone coming to the Lord one week and the next week seeing how well their life is turning out. Knowing that God used me to help them is amazing and an honor.

We serve an amazing God that truly cares about His children. I believe that God has picked his righteous to pray for the lost. The Word says that the prayer of a righteous man will avail much. Praise God for never giving up on us and for leading us to help each other. Thank you Jesus for never leaving us or forsaking us. He is the one truly doing all the work on the streets and I am thankful that he uses me as one of his vessels. All the glory to God.

Street Evangelism Outreach

Article written by Beth Mooney

The people you help when you support Christ the Healer Evangelistic Ministries are unable to thank you in person, so we want to thank you on their behalf.  This month we want to share a Street Evangelism Outreach with you.  Come join us on the truck known as the “Moon Pie Express” as it goes on its weekly trip to share
God’s love with the homeless on Houston’s city streets.

Friday afternoon students and instructors arrive between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to prepare the food.  Around six thirty p.m. the other students and instructors arrive at the church to go with us on the Street Evangelism Outreach. We pray together before going into the darkness of the city streets to carry God’s love and truth. Because most of them have not eaten for days, it is harder for them to receive the message that God loves them.  They understand pain, hunger, and criticism, but have very little knowledge of love and acceptance.  We start serving cups of tea, beans, rice and sausage, along with moon pies from the bed of the truck, offering friendship and acceptance instead of condemnation.  The message we bring to them with hot food is that God so loved them that He gave his only begotten son that if they will believe in Him they shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

As soon as the street people see our truck coming down the streets, they recognize it, so they pass the message on to the others that the Moon Pie Express is here.  By the time we get to them, they are already in line waiting to be fed (go to photo gallery to see pictures).  While some students and instructors serve food and tea from the truck, others are asking people waiting in line if they can pray with them.  Some ask us to pray with them right away, but it takes others longer, sometimes months, sometimes over a year to be able to trust us enough to allow us to pray with them.  After months of eating from the Moon Pie Express one of our diners asked if we could lead him to the God we serve, “the one who brings you out week after week to feed me.”  He added, “maybe God really does loves me”, and we answered yes He really does love you, so we led him in the salvation prayer as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
